PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As the lead designer at ION Television, I played a significant role in their 2015 website redesign. Our core team was comprised of two in-house designers, an in-house developer and the marketing manager. The old site was too cluttered and crammed together, so we wanted something clean and easy to navigate. Since ION is known for crime dramas, we used a dark theme and large, bold imagery to emphasize the shows. To differentiate between the show pages and various website sections, we used individual navigation bar colors per show/section. We also redesigned the “ION Lounge” — a gamified section of the website where users could earn points for playing and winning games — and the “ION Kitchen” — a section for recipes and event tips to provide value to our sponsors. One of my favorite features I designed is the grid system for ads, graphics and announcements. Using a 3-column by 2-row grid, we’re able to rearrange the graphic boxes per page to fit the content we’d like to display. This way the site keeps a uniform look while being flexible enough to handle different content throughout the site.
